[Vertical distribution of heterotrophic bacteria in the western half of the Indian ocean].

The peculatities of quantitative distribution of heterotrophic bacteria at various depths in the water colum of the western part of the Indian Ocean between 23 degrees N and 44 degrees S latitude were studied. A scheme of the hydrological sturcture of the Indian Ocean was constructed on the basis of microbiological data. In general features, this scheme has much in common with that which was depicted for the eastern part of this ocean in 1956--1957.
