Radical changes have taken place in the National Health Service (NHS) during the 1990s, both in relation to management and the training of student nurses. These changes have sometimes highlighted and sometimes obscured that earlier fundamental change - that of the inception of the NHS itself - which had similar far reaching consequences. In this study, the changes brought about by the introduction of the NHS are explored through the experiences of two provincial hospitals, one a former voluntary hospital - Hospital A - and the other a former municipal hospital - Hospital B.
20世纪90年代，国民医疗服务体系（NHS）在管理和学生护士培训方面都发生了根本性的变化。这些变化有时凸显，有时又掩盖了早期的根本性变革——NHS自身的创立——这一变革也产生了类似的深远影响。在本研究中，通过两家省级医院的经历探讨了NHS引入所带来的变化，其中一家是以前的志愿医院——A医院，另一家是以前的市立医院——B医院。
