A mention in the regulations of the pharmacy department (1819) of the recommended cooperation between the Vilnius and St. Petersburg societies resulted in comparing of their statutes. The reason for such a formulation and common areas of activities of both societies were analysed. The scientific cooperation considerably influenced the development of both Vilnius and St. Petersburg pharmacy 179 years after their introduction, the surprising phrasing of the Polish statutes gained in their interpretation. The comparative analysis was based on the regulations of the Vilnius medical and pharmaceutical society as well as Hamburg and St. Petersburg pharmacist societies and also on the ministerial correspondence from the period.
