The paper discusses the continuation of the education of pharmacists following the 1889 reform until 1940 when the Jan Kazimierz University was converted into the National Medical Institute. The teaching programmes and the history of departments training pharmacists at the courses run by the Studium Farmaceutyczne operating in Lvov until 1924 are considered. The activities of the pharmacy milieu aimed at reopening of the university studies of pharmacy are presented. Eventually they resulted in setting up of the Pharmacy Section at the Medical Department of Lvov University which followed a four year curriculum. The teaching programmes and the teaching staff of the Pharmacy Chair are also reviewed in the paper.
