From 1693 and further, military surgeons were teaching anatomy and surgery to Lille civilian students. During French Revolution, Military Hospital was the single medical, surgical and pharmaceutical school inside Lille. Future civilian practitionners made use of it until 1803. Military Hospital teachers provide four of six professors in the Pregraduate Medical and Pharmaceutical School which was opening here in 1852.
