[La dansarina: the influenza epidemic and the quotidian report of Rio de Janeiro city].

The article analyzes the psychological and social impacts that the 1918 influenza epidemic had within Rio de Janeiro, as registered in the city's press--a choice perspective from which to reconstruct the history of this experience. The epidemic is explored as a cultural and social phenomenon having to do with collective attitudes and representations regarding disease and death.
