Prolonged exposure to sound (1-12 hr, 100-120 db, 2000-4000/sec) resulted in morphological changes in the receptor cells of the guinea-pig spiral organ. These changes were found to depend on the sound exposure time. A restoration time is proportionate to the time and intensity of the sound stimulus.
