The causes, social background and individuals which contributed for the laying of the foundations of the socially organized antituberculous ambulatorial aid in Bulgaria are briefly outlined. However, the social charity, on the basis of which the first antituberculous dispensary was built and developed its activity, did not provide the possibilities or real mass and effective antituberculous outpatient aid in the capital.
