Abstract
The health development in the Soviet Union is discussed in the various stages of socialist construction. The ideological and theoretical bases of Soviet medicine and public health policy are pointed out, and more particularly, the program and political documents of the Communist party in this field, laying emphasis on the motive forces of the development. The role played by Lenin for the organization and development of Soviet public health services and for the creation of its scientific theory is stressed.
