The diagnostical process is dealt with considering it a specific case of manifestation of cognition. Attention is drawn to the relationship existing between the various forms of manifestation of the "alive contemplation" and those of abstract thinking in the course of establishing the diagnosis in individual patients. Upon clarifying the link existing between the logical and the historical, it is established that the logical in the diagnostical process reproduces in a peculiar way the historical. It is furthermore underlined that the forms of abstract thinking in the diagnostical process should not be considered separately one from another, which is characteristic for formal logic, but rather originating one from another; not coordinated, but rather subordinated.
