Does the hypercholesterolemia of the elderly subject have to be treated? To answer this difficult question, this article will initially try to answer other preliminary questions: Do the coronary heart diseases increase with the age? Is the hypercholesterolemia a factor of predictive cardiovascular risk? Is the response of the older subject to the lipid-lowering drugs satisfactory in terms of improvement of the lipid parameters? Is the tolerance of the patient to the treatment good? Does the old patient benefit from a lipid-lowering therapy in terms of clinical improvement?
