The phototrophic sulphur bacterium. Thiocapsa roseopersicina, strain BBS, was grown under anaerobic conditions in the darkness on the medium containing glucose and thiosulphate or molecular sulphur. The assimilation of glucose is accompanied by the accumulation of small amounts of pyruvate in the medium, and the uptake of thiosulphate or molecular sulphur leads to the formation of sulphates and hydrogen sulphide.
光合硫细菌玫瑰色嗜硫菌(Thiocapsa roseopersicina)菌株BBS在黑暗中于厌氧条件下,在含有葡萄糖和硫代硫酸盐或单质硫的培养基上生长。葡萄糖的同化伴随着培养基中少量丙酮酸的积累,而硫代硫酸盐或单质硫的摄取则导致硫酸盐和硫化氢的形成。
