To assess whether calcium stimulation test or somatostain-receptor (SS-R) imaging could early detect remnants after removal of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC).
Calcitonin stimulation (calcium element 3 mg/kg weight, i.v. 10 min), carcino-embryonic antigen (CEA), gastrin (GST) and vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) were tested in 14 patients with postoperative MTC. SS-R imaging was used to localize the remnants after removal of MTC in patients with elevated calcitonin.
Calcitonin stimulation test showed that the peak value of serum calcitonin was elevated in all patients, of whom 7 had the elevated vatue of basic calcitonin and peak calcitonin. In the 7 patients, SS-R imaging showed normal CEA, GST and VIP.
It is necessary for patients after removal of MTC to perform calcitonin stimulation test for detecting remnants early. SS-R imaging may be useful for localizing remnants and metastatic foci. CEA, GST and VIP are not significant in monitoring MTC after operation.
评估钙刺激试验或生长抑素受体(SS-R)显像能否早期检测出甲状腺髓样癌(MTC)切除术后的残留病灶。
对14例MTC术后患者进行降钙素刺激试验(静脉注射元素钙3mg/kg体重,10分钟)、癌胚抗原(CEA)、胃泌素(GST)和血管活性肠肽(VIP)检测。对降钙素升高的MTC切除术后患者,采用SS-R显像定位残留病灶。
降钙素刺激试验显示所有患者血清降钙素峰值均升高,其中7例基础降钙素值和降钙素峰值均升高。在这7例患者中,SS-R显像显示CEA、GST和VIP正常。
MTC切除术后患者有必要进行降钙素刺激试验以早期检测残留病灶。SS-R显像可能有助于定位残留病灶和转移灶。CEA、GST和VIP在MTC术后监测中意义不大。
