Decree No. 0902 of 1988 authorizing the liquidation of estates and marital property joined to them before a public notary, 10 May 1988.

This Colombia Decree authorizes the liquidation of estates including marital property, if it exists, before a public notary when all the heirs, legatees, and the surviving spouse are not incapacitated, proceed of common accord, and petition in writing. In the petition, the petitioners must swear, among other things, that they do not know of the existence of legatees or creditors other than those listed in the petition. The petitioners are not required to use a lawyer if the value of the estate is less than 100,000 pesos. Further provisions of the Decree set forth procedures to be followed in liquidating the estate.
