These Guidelines set down detailed provisions in accordance with which general physicians and clinics may provide advice on contraceptive methods. Annex 1 is entitled "Guidelines on counselling on contraception," and deals with the mode of operation, effectiveness, contraindications and side-effects of, and medical follow-up to the following methods of contraception: hormonal contraceptives; intrauterine devices; diaphragms; condoms; chemical agents (foam, jell, cream, etc.); and sterilization.
