This Act amends the Matrimonial Causes Act, 1985, a) to extend the grounds for divorce applicable to civil marriages to marriages solemnized in terms of the African Marriages Act; and b) to widen the powers of the court to make a division of assets on divorce by authorizing it to make consequential and supplemental provisions necessary to give full effect to any order it makes and to make an order relating to the property of one or another spouse that is held by another person and thereby order that person to transfer the property as the court directs.
本法修订《1985年婚姻诉讼法》，(a) 将适用于民事婚姻的离婚理由扩展至依据《非洲婚姻法》举行仪式的婚姻；(b) 通过授权法院作出必要的相应及补充规定，以充分执行其作出的任何命令，并就由他人持有某一配偶财产作出命令，从而命令该人按法院指示转让财产，扩大法院在离婚时进行资产分割的权力。
