Abstract

The aim of the present experiment is to investigate the effects of thinner nerve fibers on spinal nerve cells by using differential blocking method of thicker nerve fibers. 1. As to the differential blocking of a thicker alpha motor fibers of gastrocnemius nerve by applying trapezoid wave current, significant correlation was obtained between the decreasing amplitude of alpha-volleys and the increasing latency of the volley. In single fiber analysis, the relation between the strength of the blocking current and conduction velocity was summarized on 30 alpha and 41 gamma fibers. The blocking current of each single fiber was shown to be inversely proportional to 2.01 power of conduction velocity (correlation coefficient -- 0.71)...
