The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations has announced a new standard for giving emergency privileges to volunteer clinicians during a disaster. Emergency privileges can be granted when your facility's emergency management plan has been activated. Volunteers must present a current license, current hospital identification with license number, or have their identity verified by a staff member. Establish mutual aid agreements with other local hospitals so you know which clinicians are willing to volunteer.
