Relation between structure and muscarinic activity III. Synthesis and cholinergic activity of some-onium compounds related to 2-methyl-4-trimethylammoniomethyl-1,3-dioxolane iodide.

The synthesis of the sulfonium, phosphonium and arsonium analogs of the dioxolane of Fourneau is described. The muscarinic activities of these compounds were compared with regard to the role of cationic head in the interaction with the muscarinic receptor.
