A continuous peridural anesthesia after pulmonary resection was conducted in 200 patients aged from 3 to 72 years. The anesthesia would contribute to a prompt normalization of ventilatory indices and acid-base balance in early terms, it also improves hemodynamics. This method of postoperative anesthesia enabled the authors to reduce the number of tracheobronchial obturations in the surgical department from 8.4% to 5.1%.
