The examinations of the nasopharyngeal cavity were initiated in the beginning of the second half of XIX century. Johann N. Czermak (1828-1873), physiologist, Ludwig Tuerck (1810-1868), neurologist, Karl Stoerck, Friedrich Semeleder, Löri, Legrange and others performed exploration of this region. In the second half of XIX century and later palatine hooks, loops, threads of silver tube, pincers, tapes, spatula were used by many rhinolaryngologists. Emanuel Zaufal (1837-1910) was a creator of original method of exploration of nasopharyngeal cavity by pipe "Nasenrachentrichter". Gyergay and Jankauer examined the nasopharyngeal cavity directly.
