Lack of stimulating effect of hypertonic Nacl intravenous injection on the release of melanocyte-stimulating hormone from the hypothalamic end of the cut pituitary stalk.

After removal of the whole pituitary gland in the rat, intravenous injection of 5% NaCl solution (0.5% of body weight) had no effect on MSH release from the washed hypothalamic end of the cut pituitary stalk and the ventral surface of the median eminence.
