The care of patients transitioning from adolescence to adult life always raises challenges for the clinician. This has proven to be especially true in the case of growth hormone (GH) treatment, in part due to the absence of any immediately observable consequences of the cessation of therapy. This paper describes the challenges involved in reestablishing the diagnosis of GH deficiency (GHD), titrating GH dosage, and sustaining patients on long-term GH treatment.
