To evaluate the safety and effectiveness of catheter-directed thrombolysis in the treatment of iliofemoral vein thrombosis.
Thirteen cases of iliofemoral vein thrombosis were treated by urokinase administered in the forms of large bolus doses, medium-dose intra-catheter infusion and small-dose intervenous injection in succession. The average time of intra-catheter drug administration was 18 h, with the average dose of urokinase of 3.31x10(6) U.
Partial recanalization was achieved in all the cases and the rate for complete recanalization reached 84.6%. The clinical symptoms of the patients were significantly improved after treatment without serious complications.
Catheter-directed thrombolysis is safe and effective for treating iliofemoral vein thrombosis.
