A San Francisco study of a telephone hotline for people who may have been exposed to HIV shows there is a reasonable demand for post-exposure prophylaxis. The study showed that high-risk takers sought the PEP and suffered no lab abnormalities. Plus, adherence was good and self-reports indicate reduced risk behavior.
