This flap is based on the transverse cervical artery and its descending branch and only includes a small portion of trapezius muscle tissue around the vascular pedicle. Both the length and width of the flap can exceed that of the traditional trapezius flap. So this flap is particularly suitable for repairing late-burn scar contracture of the neck. In addition, this flap has the potential to be used as a large free flap.
