The authors report two cases of prediabetic state (preclinical diabetes and transitory diabetes) for which the only positive predictive marker was the intravenous glucose tolerance test. The actual possibilities of prediction of insulin-dependent diabetes and the specificity and reliability of the different predictive markers are discussed.
