[Ectopic course of the internal carotid artery in the tympanic cavity-value of angiography and tomography].

The rare case of an internal carotid artery crossing the tympanic cavity is reported. By means of angiography and proper positioned tomography a diagnosis can be made before any operation is attempted. A biopsy of the clinically appearing "tumor" can be disastrous for profuse arterial bleeding.
