Sound level measurements and frequency analyses were carried out on dental turbines in order to assess the risk of hearing defects due to the noise caused by such turbines. The measured values were related to other factors (exposure time, noise pauses) and the overall situation was evaluated. A major leasion of the auditory organ due to the noise caused by dental turbines seems unlikely.
