The results of the various histochemical reactions on mucosubstances indicate that in the middle fold of the mantle edge two types of mucus cells exist, one producing sulphomucins and the other neutral mucosubstances. The cells secreting neutral mucosubstances are few in number. The sulphated mucus is strongly alcianophilic. The alcianophilia persists when the tissues are stained with alcian blue in concentration up to 0-5 M magnesium chloride. Testicular hyaluronidase has no effect on the staining pattern of the mucus.
对粘膜物质进行的各种组织化学反应结果表明，在套膜边缘的中间褶皱处存在两种粘液细胞，一种产生硫酸粘蛋白，另一种产生中性粘膜物质。分泌中性粘膜物质的细胞数量较少。硫酸化粘液具有强烈的阿利新蓝嗜色性。当组织用浓度高达0 - 5M的氯化镁中的阿利新蓝染色时，阿利新蓝嗜色性持续存在。睾丸透明质酸酶对粘液的染色模式没有影响。
