An acute inpatient psychiatric ward suffered from low morale, high staff turnover and a lack of leadership. Taking part in a Clinical Governance Development Programme helped the ward team to examine the problems. They were then able to work in groups to identify solutions with the multidisciplinary team, patients and carers and set short- and long-term goals.
