Abstract

The growth of Pinus sylvestris seedlings was delayed and polystem occurrence increased with chronic irradiation (a cumulative dose of external gamma-radiation was 6-8 Gy in 1986 and 0.7 Gy in 1990). The apical meristem activity was inhibited and central stem and main root died off under the effect of the radiation doses applied resulting in the development of plants of a specific floating form.
