Conflicts experienced by elderly persons regarding housing, consumer problems, the quality and availability of health and social services, family problems, and other issues often require mediation. This program demonstrates the important potential of using seniors as volunteer mediators to assist other seniors. It also suggests that training in conflict management skills enhances competence of volunteers in solving their own conflicts.
