OBJECTIVE
To investigate the usefulness of electromyogram (EMG) in the diagnosis of the patients with hemimasticatory spasm (HMS).
METHODS
Four cases with HMS were reported. All the 4 patients were undertaken needle and surface electrode EMG examination.
RESULTS
Needle electrode EMG of the 4 patients with HMS showed grouped potentials synchronously with the onset of the spasm, which indicated abnormal excitatory electrical activities of the trigeminal nerve resulting in involuntary masticatory muscle movements.
CONCLUSION
It is very important to use EMG for the diagnosis of HMS.
目的
探讨肌电图（EMG）在偏侧咀嚼肌痉挛（HMS）患者诊断中的应用价值。
方法
报告4例HMS患者。所有4例患者均接受了针电极和表面电极肌电图检查。
结果
4例HMS患者的针电极肌电图显示，在痉挛发作时出现成组电位，这表明三叉神经的异常兴奋性电活动导致咀嚼肌不自主运动。
结论
肌电图对HMS的诊断非常重要。
