The development of data collection forms is an extremely valuable planning phase for a research study. Stepping through the process as outlined in Table 3 can save time and resources because the process will help the researcher define only those variables necessary to accomplish the research objectives, define the type of forms that should be developed for the selected variables, and develop forms that will assist the collection of standard, reliable, and valid data.
