Adult polycystic liver disease presenting in a patient with metastatic adenocarcinoma. Cytologic and histologic findings.

The clinical, cytologic, and histologic features are presented in a case of polycystic disease of the liver. The patient was a 65-year-old female who presented with clinical and radiologic findings suggestive of metastatic adenocarcinoma to the pleural cavity and liver. Cytologic and histologic examination yielded an unsuspected diagnosis of polycystic liver disease. Metastatic adenocarcinoma to the pleura was subsequently identified on open biopsy.
