The human metapneumovirus (hMPV) is a recently decribed virus, belonging to the family Paramyxoviridae, isolated from the respiratory tract of patients of all ages, but mostly in young children. Epidemiology, clinical manifestations, diagnosis and therapy of infections from hMPV are briefly discussed.
