Between 2001 and 2004, New Zealand offered re-training programmes to overseas-trained doctors (OTDs). (The Auckland programme, and what participants thought of it, is described in the same issue of the New Zealand Medical Journal.) These courses have now been discontinued, and the question is, what, if anything should take their place?
