Abstract

The author discusses his modification of the Mitchell distal metatarsal osteotomy/bunionectomy, in a study of 150 cases. He advocates a distal transverse first metatarsal osteotomy, with fixation using Herbert bone screws. Stepwise description of the surgical technique with evaluation of cases including complications is provided.
