Abstract
Eugenio Centanni, born in Montotto, in Italy, in 1863, is - together with Mecnikoff and Ehrilich - one of the founders of Immunology. The article presents his main discoveries and underlines the importance of the Italian scientist in contributing to the rise and development of a 'new' discipline.
