Cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) plays a critical role not only in maintenance of the endometrium during the menstrual cycle, but also in the progression of endometrial cancer. The role of COX-2 in tumor growth and development is complex and multifaceted. This review presents evidence for the expression of COX-2 being linked to angiogenesis, tumor cell apoptosis, tumor cell growth, metastasis and local immunosuppression in cancer progression. It also outlines the clinicopathological and prognostic significance of COX-2 in endometrial cancer.
环氧化酶-2(COX-2)不仅在月经周期中对子宫内膜的维持起着关键作用,而且在子宫内膜癌的进展中也发挥着重要作用。COX-2在肿瘤生长和发展中的作用是复杂且多方面的。本综述提供了证据表明,在癌症进展过程中,COX-2的表达与血管生成、肿瘤细胞凋亡、肿瘤细胞生长、转移及局部免疫抑制相关。同时,本综述还概述了COX-2在子宫内膜癌中的临床病理及预后意义。
