Coeliac disease "anatomic pathology".

The microscopic diagnosis of coeliac disease is discussed. The small intestinal mucosal lesions observed in coeliac disease consist of a combination of epithelial alterations and inflammatory lesions starting with pre-infiltrative changes. In the early (?) changes an increase of lymphocytes is noted. The interactions probably finally lead to destruction or atrophy of the villi.
