Abstract

OBJECTIVES

To assess the presence of anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide antibodies in a cohort of patients with juvenile idiopathic arthritis.

METHODS

Anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide antibodies was tested for with an enzyme linked immunoabsorbent assay (ELISA) in serum samples of patients from the Hospital de Clínicas de Porto Alegre, all less than 18 years old and with previous diagnosis for at least 6 months. IgMRF (rheumatoid factor) and antinuclear antibodies in Hep-2 cells were also assayed.

RESULTS

Serum samples were analyzed from 45 patients. The presence of high levels of anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide antibodies was found in the serum of just one child (2%), who presented sero-positive polyarthritis.

CONCLUSIONS

Anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide antibodies can be detected in children with juvenile idiopathic arthritis, but much less frequently than in adults with rheumatoid arthritis. It still remains to be determined whether anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide antibodies can identify a subset of juvenile idiopathic arthritis patients with the potential to progress to adult rheumatoid arthritis.

目的

评估青少年特发性关节炎患者队列中抗环瓜氨酸肽抗体的存在情况。

方法

采用酶联免疫吸附测定(ELISA)法检测阿雷格里港临床医院年龄小于18岁且先前诊断至少6个月的患者血清样本中的抗环瓜氨酸肽抗体。同时检测IgM类风湿因子(RF)和人喉癌上皮细胞(Hep-2)中的抗核抗体。

结果

分析了45例患者的血清样本。仅在1名儿童(2%)的血清中发现高水平抗环瓜氨酸肽抗体,该儿童表现为血清阳性多关节炎。

结论

青少年特发性关节炎患儿可检测到抗环瓜氨酸肽抗体,但频率远低于类风湿关节炎成人患者。抗环瓜氨酸肽抗体能否识别出有发展为成人类风湿关节炎潜力的青少年特发性关节炎患者亚组仍有待确定。
