This is a historical research about America's first school of nursing. The purpose of this research is to explore and analyze the philosophy, training methods, and the setting in which nursing education began in America. The methodology included the use of primary sources and a site visit to the New England Hospital for Women and Children, now known as the Dimock Health Center. The findings reveal that through feminist endeavors, and women physicians as nurse educators, the New England Hospital for Women and Children emerged as a leader in training nurses. In addition, this institution is credited with graduating two prominent historical pioneers who were admitted to Nursing's Hall of Fame.
