[Duchenne's myodystrophy--a hereditary defect of the cell membranes].

The review is focused on current concepts of the intracellular localization and the main structural and functional characteristics of dystrophin, a protein product of Duchenne's myodystrophy gene. Possible hypotheses of the disease pathogenesis are under discussion as are prospects of further studies into that area.
