In this article data and case reports of chronic multiple handicapped alcoholics are presented, compiled by the sociopsychiatric unit of the Department of Public Health at Augsburg. Problems in the care of this group in Augsburg as well as in other regions are described. The beginning of an evaluation of local requirements and conceptualizations are seen as first signs of improvement in the care for this group.
