[Morbidity by drug use, in the emergency room of the general hospital].

The data were collected by an epidemiological sounding on the emergency room in nine representative hospitals of the Province of Buenos Aires. 8.4% of the cases of emergencies were related to the abuse of psychoactive substances. Approximately two of each ten of these cases are expressed like a violence situation towards others or itself and specially affects the population of less than 20 years. Alcohol drinks are referred in more than half of the answers on substances consumed during the six hours previous to the emergency consultation. These results indicate the convenience of maintaining a system of fast soundings as central element of the epidemiological monitoring network on consumption of psychoactive substances.
