[The effect of stimulation of the A5 cell group in the medulla oblongata on cardiac activity in the cat].

The anesthetized cats, heart rate and dp/dt max. were elevated in the result of the A5 cell group electrical stimulation. Similarly, the L-glutamate injections, too, increased the heart rate and dp/dt max. After transection of the spinal cord (T8-10) and blocking of rostral ventrolateral medulla, this effect was still present and only blocked by i.v. infusion of phentolamine and hexametonium.
