To determine the effect of botulinum toxin injection in the eyelid on lacrimal film in patients with facial dystonia.
Twenty-four patients with essential blepharospasm and hemifacial spasm were submitted to botulinum toxin injection and lacrimal film tests were performed before the application and after seven and thirty days.
There was improvement in symptoms of dry eye and rose bengal test, however, the breakup time and Schirmer's test did not show significant variation between pretreatment and after 1 month of follow-up.
The dry eye symptoms in patients with facial dystonia may be attenuated by botulinum toxin due to its possible inhibitory effect on the orbicular muscle leading to a decrease in lacrimal pump.
确定眼睑肉毒杆菌毒素注射对面部肌张力障碍患者泪膜的影响。
对24例特发性眼睑痉挛和半面痉挛患者进行肉毒杆菌毒素注射，并在注射前、注射后7天和30天进行泪膜测试。
干眼症状和孟加拉玫瑰红试验有所改善，然而，泪膜破裂时间和泪液分泌试验在治疗前和随访1个月后未显示出显著差异。
面部肌张力障碍患者的干眼症状可能因肉毒杆菌毒素对眼轮匝肌的抑制作用导致泪液泵功能下降而减轻。
