Simultaneous bilateral facial palsy as a result of isolated mandibular fractures.

Post-traumatic bilateral facial nerve palsy is usually associated with fracture of the temporal bones in patients who have sustained a significant head injury. Facial nerve injury can also very rarely occur because of isolated mandibular fractures, without associated temporal bone fractures. Here is reported a case of bilateral facial nerve palsy in a patient with mandibular symphysis and bilateral condylar fractures of the mandible without evidence of temporal bone fracture or significant head injury.
